Edmondson Gets Life

Townsville Touch Football has tonight bestowed just it's third Life Membership in its 47-year history, recognising one of its most dedicated volunteers - Paul Edmondson.

Edmondson, known affectionately by most as "Pauly", becomes just the third person to be named a Life Member of Townsville Touch Football, joining Glen Wilson and Barry Peters who were both awarded Life Membership in 1990.

A loyal and trusted member of Townsville Touch Football (TTF) since he began playing for Crocs Touch Club in 1996, Edmondson later found his permanent home at his beloved Frogs Touch Club where he continues to hold various volunteer roles.

2005 saw Edmondson's first step into a volunteer management role, serving as the Townsville Junior Touch Football sub-committee's referee coordinator in 2005 and 2006, later re-joining the sub-committee's management team as an Assistant Chairperson between 2013 and 2019.

Edmondson served as a Vice President on the Townsville Touch Referees Association Inc. (TTRA) management committee in 2008 and 2009, then moving into the role of President and appointed as TTF's Director of Referees from 2010 to 2019.

It was during that time that Edmondson also made the jump to executive level with TTF, when in 2011 when he was elected to the position of Vice President, a position he still holds today.

As a referee, Edmondson has representated Townsville at regional, state, national and international levels, capped off by his appointment to officiate ten matches the 2019 Touch Football World Cup in Malaysia.

Never one to forget his roots, many will still see Edmondson refereeing at Townsville Touch Football's junior and senior competitions.

Edmondson has been, and still is, an integral part in the day-to-day operation of all TTF competitions and supported events; regardless of whether its for a Monday night mixed competition, or a Trans-Tasman Test Series, Edmondson is always the first to arrive and the last to leave.

Throughout the years that Edmondson has been a member of TTF, he has always been happy volunteered many hours outside his positions, and is always willing to pitch-in whenever it's required, whether it is with field maintenance, repairs to our clubhouse, or cleaning grounds after championships or competitions, he continues to play a valuable role on the Townsville executive.

On behalf of Townsville Touch Football, we extend our sincere congratulations to Paul on his Life Membership.
